For more than 20 years, I've worked in complex, high-pressure environments from emergency room nursing and military service to post-secondary education, humanitarian work, and war zone nursing in Afghanistan.
Along the way, I've collaborated on multidisciplinary and multinational teams where communication wasn't just important, it was essential.
Throughout my career, I've seen firsthand how communication can strengthen relationships, build trust, resolve conflict, and transform workplace culture.
I've also experienced the impact of unhealthy workplace dynamics and understand the challenges people face when communication breaks down. Conflict. Bullying. Misunderstandings. They have real impacts on people, progress and profits.
As an executive leadership coach, facilitator, and speaker with more than 5,000 hours of leadership development and training experience, I help leaders, teams, and individuals build the confidence, courage, and communication skills to have the conversations that matter most.
Whether you're leading a team, navigating workplace challenges, or working to create a healthier culture, communication is often the difference between frustration and progress, conflict and connection, turnover and retention.
Because interpersonal problems require interpersonal solutions.

Leaders often fall into the trap of solving problems when they should be coaching employees through conflict towards resolution.

Uncovering the core values of a conflict requires a careful examination of the beliefs and attitudes that drive each party's actions and behaviors. By following these three simple steps, you can gain a better understanding of the values at the heart of a conflict, which can help you find ways to resolve the dispute.

Downplaying an issue is a passive way of reducing conflict into something less important than it really is and may include comments or actions that diminish one's own or others beliefs, feelings, desires, wants, needs, and ideas.

When a right fighter is feeling threatened during conflict resolution attempts, reassurance that their contributions are valuable and needed will help to address the underlying fear.
